Summer is quickly approaching, which means the return of weekly and dailyfarmers markets.
Farmers markets have become a summertime staple. TheFarmers Market Coalitionoutlines several goals and advantagesof them, including"preservingAmerica's rural livelihoods and farmlands, stimulating local economies, increasingaccess to fresh, nutritious foods, supporting healthy communities, and promotingsustainability."
In short, farmers markets allow community members to buy from regional farmers andbusinesses, contribute to their local economies and have fun while doing it.

Note: Some markets run year-round, but many more are open during the summertime and offer avariety of seasonal goods.
