Why is my Sony WH-1000XM4 not noise cancelling enough? ›

Check the setting of the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. When the Adaptive Sound Control is turned on, the noise canceling function may become insufficient. With the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, check the setting of [Ambient Sound Control].

The sudden changes in pitch occur too frequently and make it difficult for any noise-cancelling audio device to analyse and process these differences. Therefore, you hear some noises whilst others are cancelled out.

While both over-ears are comfortable, the XM4 are better built and have a more neutral sound profile, which some users may prefer. Their ANC offers a significantly better noise isolation performance.

Connect the headset to a smartphone or mobile phone via Bluetooth connection beforehand. When you hear a ring tone, tap the touch sensor on the left or right unit of the headset twice (with an interval of about 0.3 seconds) and receive the call.
